Parking Information
Free Street Parking (lots of options!) - Street parking is on E. Clay St. at no additional cost. It is two hours of free parking.
Paid Parking Lot & Parking Garages - There are several parking garages available since we are close to the Convention Center.
We do not offer valet parking at this time.
Drop-Off - If you would like to drop off your guests and then park, we are able to accommodate them with no issue.
Arrival Times
As one of our esteemed guests, you are welcome to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the tea time to ensure a smooth and relaxed start to the event. If you are running late, it is ok. Your reservation is secured for the full tea time. The door will remain closed until 10 minutes before tea time.
Unique, Lounge Seating
Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our guests to enjoy their time together. We encourage you to take advantage of the comfortable seating and make yourself at home. This is unlike any other tea experience - We do not have typical restaurant seating.
Accessibility Accommodations
Our building is over 100 years old in the heart of Jackson Ward, also known as the Harlem of the South. Dietary Accommodations — Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, and allergies
We are able to accommodate with no additional fee.
We understand that everyone has different dietary needs and restrictions, and we want to make sure that you are accommodated appropriately. If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please let us know in advance so that we can plan accordingly. For those who shared this during reservations, all accommodations have been made. Is there a dress code?
It’s up to you! Many go all out with the gloves, hats, and more for a fun tea time adventure. However you also will feel right at home dressed comfortable for a relaxing afternoon.
I have a child who may not like all the food options.
We do have a couple fun snacks for children such as apple juice and packaged snacks. We do however operate on a limited, pre-set options due to the nature of the experience.
It's my birthday! Could I bring a cake for our group?
No outside food or beverages. We are unable to accommodate this due to limited space. We do not have a full kitchen in our space. Our approach is partnering with local bakeries to provide the food service.
Is it open seating or reserved?
We have selected all seatings ahead of time with careful consideration. It will always be a surprise where you sit when you visit The Queen's Library. Every chair and table -- and we mean every chair -- has a special story behind it. All seating is reserved.
Everyone who attends this experience must have pre-registered, even one extra person could push us over capacity.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate surprise guests unless they have pre-registered. Our space is 100 years old with limited seating. We will not be able to provide any additional seating due to this.
What type of tea service do you offer?
We serve a traditional Afternoon Tea, similar in structure to High Tea, featuring a curated menu of tea sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, petite desserts, and unlimited tea service. Each course is thoughtfully prepared in partnership with local Richmond bakeries and purveyors.
How long is the tea time experience?
Each tea service lasts approximately two hours, giving you ample time to sip, savor, and enjoy your afternoon.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Absolutely! We are proud to offer gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-friendly options at no additional cost. Simply let us know your dietary needs at the time of reservation or by emailing hello@queenslibrarytearoom.com in advance.
Can I purchase gift cards?
Yes! Gift cards are available for purchase online and in our Queen’s Library Gift Shop. They make the perfect gift for birthdays, holidays, or a “just because” tea date.
Do you sell tea and gifts?
Absolutely! Our on-site gift shop features fine teas, teaware, books, and British-inspired gifts from brands like Fortnum & Mason, Burleigh, Spode, and William Morris. You can also shop online at queenslibrarytearoom.com.
Do you offer private events or group reservations?
