Gathered within the stately halls of The Valentine situated in Richmond, Virginia, an evening of refined elegance awaits. As the sun sets on Saturday, October 26th, the clock shall strike six, signaling the commencement of our soirée, extending its grace until the hour of nine in the evening.

Picture a scene of opulence: a procession of extravagantly attired figures gliding alongside a serene rectangular pond, with the majestic Chinese House poised at its center. This magical ambiance harks back to the origins of masquerade balls in English society, pioneered by the visionary Count John James Heidegger of in the early 18th century. Count John died in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, United Kingdom in 1749 at the age of 90.

He being inspired by the vibrant festivities of Italy, introduced the concept of masquerades to England, igniting a fervor that swept through London's social elite. From the grandeur of the Haymarket Opera House to the intimate allure of Carlisle House in Soho Square, these gatherings became the epitome of high society entertainment.

  • Have you hosted a ball in the past? Yes! We hosted The Duchess of Richmond’s Ball in February 2024 at the Bolling Haxall House. It was stunning - view pictures here.

  • Is there any additional costs? There is no additional cost associated with this event. You can even leave your wallets at home so you can dance the night away! There will be some add-ons available to enhance your experience before the event but not during the event.

  • Is there a VIP option? No VIP option - Our goal is to provide a VIP experience for every guest. 

  • Are children welcome? Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to be part of this event. We hope to host a more family-friendly ball in the future! 

  • Will there be alcohol present? No, this is an alcohol free environment however we will have some fun sparkling tea mocktail options with some other surprises to be announced soon.

  • Do I need to dress up in a costume? Masks are required.

  • Food accommodations and dietary restrictions? Yes, we are able to accommodate. This will be more of a grazing food event so we can showcase many food options during the event. There will grazing options for gluten free, vegetarian, dairy-free, and vegan.

  • ADA? Yes, ADA entrances, bathrooms, and accommodations are well situated.
